About This Course

If you've ever sat through Mass and wondered what it all means, you're not alone. Many Catholics attend weekly but don't fully grasp the richness of what's happening around them. This course changes that. We'll walk you through the Mass step-by-step, revealing how it evolved organically over centuries and how each part connects to the deposit of faith—the sacred truths handed down from the Apostles themselves. By the end, you won't just attend Mass; you'll truly participate in it, understanding the profound spiritual reality unfolding before you. Whether you're seeking to deepen your own faith or help others understand the Mass better, this course is your guide to unlocking centuries of spiritual wisdom.

About Edward Schaefer

I have spent much of my life studying the Roman liturgy—its history, its theology, and the remarkable way in which it developed across the centuries. Again and again, the same questions arise: Why do we do this? What does this prayer mean? Where did this ritual come from? And, perhaps most importantly, what does it tell us about what the Church believes is actually taking place at Mass? That is what this course explores. My goal is not simply to explain the parts of the Mass, but to help you see how they fit together—how Scripture, theology, history, ritual, sacred music, and centuries of Catholic tradition have shaped the Roman Mass we have inherited. I hope that understanding it more deeply will help you experience the Mass with greater attention, appreciation, and love.
